National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives. Now in its 31st year, Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those living in recovery.

Bruce St. James, radio host of KTAR News, struggled with depression for years before being pushed to find a solution. St. James says depression is chemical and will always be there but he finds ways to deal with it. He says it’s hard to acknowledge there might be something wrong with you but once you do there are ways to work at it and get better over time.
